keep in the whole of England. It stands on top of a 35-metre
outcrop of limestone and is one of the oldest buildings in Lancashire.

Whalley Abbey, The Sands,
Whalley, Clitheroe BB7 9SS - Tel: 01254 828400. Standing on the
banks of the River Calder, Whalley Abbey has been a focal point
for hospitality since the fourteenth century. It began its history
as a community of Cistercian monks. The adjacent medieval church
has 3 Celtic Scandinavian crosses in its churchyard dating back
