Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Ashby-de-la-Zouch is located just off the A42, about
9 miles west of Junction 23 of the M1 Motorway. It is about 8
miles southeast of Burton upon Trent, about 4 miles west of Coalville
and 12 miles northeast of Tamworth. Ashby de la Zouch has an
impressive ruin of a late medieval castle. The castle was used
as a setting by Sir Walter Scott in the novel 'Ivanhoe'. Along
Ashby Canal there is an enjoyable walk by the towpath, passing

Coalville. Coalville is located on the A511, about 4 miles
northwest of Junction 22 of the M1 Motorway. Coalville is a town
in north west Leicestershire between Ashby-de-la-Zouch (4 miles
to the west) and Leicester (10 miles to the southeast). As the
name indicates, it is a former coal-mining town. A disused colliery
at Snibston has been regenerated into Snibston Discovery Park,
a museum focused on transport, mining, and engineering. It is
Coalville's main tourist attraction and one of the most popular
museums in the Midlands.

Hinckley. Hinckley is centrally situated and forms a crucial
link in the Midland's rail and motorway network. It lies exactly
half-way between Leicester and Coventry, just a mile from the
Warwickshire border. Hinckley is about 9 miles north of Junction
2 of the M6 and about 2 miles west of Junction 2 of the M69 Motorway.

Kibworth Beauchamp. Kibworth Beauchamp lies on the A6, about 7 miles
east of Leicester city centre, between Market Harborough and
Leicester, adjacent to Kibworth Harcourt. The villages are often
considered as one. Both villages are served by the Church of
St. Wilfrids. In Kibworth Harcourt village stands the Cross,
a small obelisk which hes recently been restored as has the village
pump nearby. A nearby attraction is Foxton Locks which are ten
canal locks consisting of two "staircases" each of

Kibworth Harcourt. Kibworth Harcourt is on the A 6. A nearby large
town is Leicester. Kibworth Harcourt is about 7 miles east of
Leicester city centre. Kibworth Harcourt is situated on the A6
between Market Harborough and Leicester, adjacent to Kibworth

Leicester. Leicester is the largest city in the East Midlands.
It has the M1 motorway to the west of the city. Junction 21A
takes traffic to the north of Leicester. Junction 21 is where
the M1 merges with the M69 (to Coventry). Loughborough is about
8 miles north of the city, Market Harborough is about 12 miles
to the southeast and Lutterworth is 10 miles to the south. There
has been a market here for seven hundred years, but it is now
complemented by newly pedestrianised shopping streets and the

Loughborough. Loughborough lies on the A6 and is just 2 miles
east of J23 of the M1. It is about 8 miles north of Leicester,
12 miles west of Melton Mowbray and 9 miles south of Long Eaton.
East Midlands Airport is 10 miles north of Loughborough. The
town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. Today it has
good communications, the Midland Main Line runs frequent rail

Lutterworth. Lutterworth is an old attractive market town. It
is located about 1 mile west of Junction 20 of the M1 and about
5 miles north of Junction 1 of the M6. It lies on the A426, about
12 miles west of Market Harborough, 10 miles south of Leicester
and 8 miles southeast of Hinckley. In 1899 it gained a railway
station (closed in the 1960s), and in the 1960s the M1 reached
Lutterworth. Lutterworth has some delightful features with half-timbered
and colour-washed cottages, coaching inns and interesting streets

Market Harborough. Market Harborough is on the A508, just off the A6
and on the county border with Northamptonshire. It is 9 miles
west of Corby, 11 miles southeast of Leicester and 9 miles northwest
of Kettering. Market Harborough dates back to the early 13th
century, and much of the extensive market place has been replaced
by buildings. In the 18th century many coaching inns were established

Melton Mowbray. Melton Mowbray is located on the A606, about 12
miles west of the A1. It is about 12 miles northwest of Oakham,
12 miles northeast of Leicester and 18 miles north of Market
Harborough. Melton Mowbray is a historic market town, famous
for its Stilton and traditional hand raised Pork Pies. Tuesday
is the main market day, with a busy street market in the market

Oakham. Oakham is a bustling market town located on the
A606, lying on Rutland Water in the small county of Rutland.
Oakham is about 7 miles southwest of the A1, with Stamford about
10 miles to the east, Uppingham 6 miles to the south and Melton
Mowbray 10 miles to the northwest. The splendid Great Hall of
Oakham Castle, a fortified manor house, is one of the finest
examples of late 12th century domestic architecture in England.
The Hall possesses a range of 12th century carved figures. Although
they are damaged, they are of beautiful quality and were almost

Wigston. Wigston is located about 5 miles east of Junction
21 of the M1, about 3 miles south of the city centre of Leicester.
It runs directly into neighbouring Oadby, located on the A6.
It is about 9 miles northwest of Market Harborough. Wigston Framework
Knitters Museum is a small museum in Wigston Magna and is a must
