The Magna science and adventure centre lets visitors walk on
air, feel the heat of a fire tornado, blast water cannons and
take the controls of a JCB. The complex is converted from a former
steelworks and divided into four indoor pavilions, Earth, Fire,

Conisbrough Castle, Castle Hill, Conisbrough, Doncaster. South
Yorkshire. DN12 3BU. One of the country's finest Norman castles.
Since the Ivanhoe Trust took over the management of the castle,
a new Visitor Centre has been constructed, floodlighting has
been installed around the castle and a new car park has been
provided. Conisbrough Castle is regarded as having one of the
finest Norman keep towers anywhere in England. Coach and car
parking free of charge at the foot of the castle. Disabled car

Roche Abbey, Maltby, Rotherham,

with a striking tall eastern end, built around 1170 in the new
Gothic style. It displays one of the most complete ground plans
of any English Cistercian monastery, laid out as excavated foundations
and incorporating the original drainage ditch. English Heritage
charges apply. About 5 miles east of Rotherham.

in 1880 to supply the borough of Doncaster with water. Due to
the amount of leakage Thrybergh reservoir never met the demands
put on it. Today Thrybergh is a nature lovers paradise
with 200 species of birds and other wildlife in the area. On

Chesterfield Canal Trust.
The Trust aims to promote the full restoration and development
of the Chesterfield Canal. Already the Chesterfield Canal has
much to offer; the 46-mile canal has narrow locks, wide locks,
and tunnels. It originally ran from the River Trent at West Stockwith
to Chesterfield. It is currently only navigable as far as Kiveton
Park near Rotherham. The section near Chesterfield offers the
Tapton Lock Visitor Centre at Tapton Lock, Lockoford Lane, CHESTERFIELD,
