Hastings Castle, Hastings. After landing in England in 1066,
William of Normandy ordered two fortifications to be built, one
being Pevensey Castle and the other Hastings. The most recent
damage done to the castle was during World War II, when Hastings
was a target for bombing raids. About 9 miles south west of Rye.
