Barnsley. Barnsley in south Yorkshire sits on the River Dearne.
Barnsley is about 2 miles east of Junction 37 of the M1 motorway,
20 miles from Leeds, 9 miles north of Sheffield and 8 miles south
of Wakefield. Barnsley has a great history as a centre of coal
mining and related industries, and a strong heritage as a market
town. This industrial town has factories producing clothing and
metal products. To the south and west of Barnsley the spectacular
Pennine landscape is dotted with picturesque villages and a wealth

Bawtry. Bawtry has been a market town since it was granted
its first charter in 1213. It is situated on the Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire
border. Its location made Bawtry the "Gateway to the North"
with major road and rail networks passing through the town. Bawtry
is about 7 miles southeast of Junction 2 of the M18 motorway
and about 3 miles northeast of the A1(M). It is about 9 miles

Doncaster. Doncaster is well served by road, rail and air transport
links. It owes its importance to its position on the great North
Road. Doncaster is about 3 miles north of Junction 3 of the M18
motorway, 20 miles from Goole and 12 miles from Rotherham. Doncaster
is about 2 miles northeast of the A1(M), 22 miles from Sheffield
and 70 miles from Manchester. Doncaster was a major coaching
centre in the 18th century, and throughout the 18th and 19th
centuries it was primarily an inland leisure town based on the

Maltby. Maltby, South Yorkshire is a small town situated
on the A631 between the A1(M) and the M18. It is about 6 miles
from Rotherham, 8 miles south of Doncaster, 10 miles north of
Worksop and about 30 miles from Goole. Maltby has its historical
roots in Roman times, and there are several Roman roads running
through the town. Nearby is Roche Abbey, a Cistercian Abbey founded
in 1147, and Sandbeck House, the seat of the Earls of Scarbrough.

Rotherham. Rotherham is a town in South Yorkshire built on
the River Don, near the confluence of the Don and the Rother.
Rotherham lies about 4 miles east of Junction 34 of the M1 motorway
and about 4 miles west of Junction 1 of the M18 motorway. It
is about 35 miles from Goole and 6 miles from Sheffied. Despite
the closure of most of the collieries and many steelworks, Rotherham
is still an industrial town. Rotherham town centre contains one
of only four bridge chapels in the country: the 15th century

from the Peak National Park. It is about 4 miles west of Junction
33 of the M1 motorway and about 9 miles west of Junction 1 of
